Cowhide Colors

Choosing the right cowhide color is one of the most important steps in designing your rug. This guide shows the core hide colors and patterns we work with most often, from soft off whites and light greys to deeper brindle and chocolate tones.

Each hide is completely unique, so your finished rug will never be an exact copy of these photos. Instead, think of this page as a palette: it helps you decide whether you prefer cooler greys, warmer taupes, classic black and white, or a mix of natural browns and neutrals. We then use hides in that family to create your custom piece.

Colors can look slightly different depending on lighting, flooring, and screen settings. If you’re trying to match existing elements in your room—such as wood floors, stone, or upholstery—feel free to send us photos of your space, and we can suggest a cowhide color direction that will sit comfortably with what you already have.

For more specific projects, such as very light rugs, high-contrast black and white designs, or mixed hides with both cool and warm tones, we’re happy to work with you one-on-one to refine the selection. Simply refer to the color names on this page when you contact us, and we’ll take it from there.
